How to Choose Your Melissa Size: Fit and Size Guide

The biggest question when buying shoes online is always the same: Which size should I choose? With Melissa, the answer depends a little on the shape of the shoe. Below you'll find both the general rule and model-specific notes.

Measure your foot first

The most reliable method isn't guessing, it's measuring:

1. Place a sheet of paper on a flat floor and stand on it.
2. Holding a pencil upright, mark the very back of your heel and the tip of your longest toe.
3. Measure the distance between the two points with a ruler.
4. Measure both feet and go by the larger one — feet are rarely exactly the same.

Measure in the evening; feet swell slightly during the day, so you'll get a result closer to real-life wear.

How does the Melissa fit run?

The general rule: Melissa styles run true to size. If you normally wear a 38, get a 38. But there are a few exceptions:

• Strap and closed styles (Mary Jane, flats): If you have wide feet or plan to wear socks, consider going one size up.
• Sandals and slides: Your true size is usually comfortable. If you're in between, choose the smaller one; jelly takes the shape of your foot in no time.
• Platform styles: The sole is wide, so your true size is right.
• Boots: Since they'll be worn with thick socks, you may prefer to go one size up.

Half sizes

Melissa sizes are produced in pairs (35/36, 37, 38, 39, 40, 41/42). When you're in between, choosing the larger size for closed styles and the smaller size for open styles usually gives the right result.

Do jelly shoes break in?

Yes. MELFLEX is a flexible material; it takes the shape of your foot within the first few wears. But that doesn't mean you should buy a smaller size thinking "it'll stretch anyway" — if your toes touch the shoe, the size is too small.
